Roof Cleaning, Sealing & Moss Removal Services across Exeter And North Devon

Roof Clean & Sealing + Moss Removal

If you want to preserve your roof and prevent potential costly roof repairs, regular cleaning moss removal is a must.

Looking after your roof with an occasional clean and inspection could prevent serious issues later down the line. We inspect all aspects of the roof and roofline including gutters, chimneys, dormers, fascia, soffits, downspouts and skylights.

We know that good roof maintenance will prevent the need for costly repairs or even a full roof replacement. So, looking after your roof with an occasional clean is a good investment.

Moss, algae and lichen grow steadily on roof tiles and roof surfaces making it look unsightly and could even harm the roof if left untreated. It is usually worse on north-facing roofs as these little plants grow well in damp, shady conditions.

We inspect and clean your roof and all roofline areas and take care to check for damage.  We remove any debris including moss, twigs, leaves and bugs. We then spray the roof surface with a cleaner and gently brushing the area. This removes oil, grease, lichen, algae and dirt. We apply a biocidal wash to kill pesticides and prevent new moss, lichen or algae growing on the surface.

A special sealant can then be applied to protect the roof and is available in several different colours. This not only protects but also makes it appear like your home has had a makeover.

Roof Cleaning Q&As

Why get a roof clean and seal from DBF Property Services;

  • Defends against the harsh weather that we experience in Devon
  • Prevents future build-up of moss, algae and other staining and damaging debris
  • Insulates your roof and saves on the heating bills!
  • Adds value to the property
  • Makes your house look like new!

Does Moss actually harm my roof?

The unfortunate answer is yes. Moss is an organism, which, if left to grow on your roof, can eventually cause significant damage to your roof tiles. Once this has happened, it becomes prone to leaks and does not seal in the warmth that you are trying to maintain. As time goes by and the moss freezes and expands, this damage gets worse.

How often should I get my roof cleaned?

In an ideal world you should get your roof cleaned about every two years. We know this impractical for a lot of people and that is why DBF Property services perform this much needed and often ignored service form as little as £299.

How long does it take to clean a roof?

Roof cleaning itself is a task that is normally completed within a day. If sealing is then required it can take up to 2 days. This is to ensure that the roof is fully dried and reinspected prior to the sealant being applied. This time can obviously vary though pending the size of the property and access to the roof.
